David Shaw – leverages a unique background of over 30 years in both fitness and high-tech to provide insight on innovative fitness products, technology and future trends in Health, Wellness and Fitness.

David has overseen the development and design of over 85 pieces of commercial exercise equipment including the first “on-screen instructed” indoor cycling/spin bike seven years before the launch of Peloton, setup distribution of US fitness products to over 20 countries (where he received a “Special Congressional Recognition for Exporting”) along with the design and outfitting of thousands of fitness centers worldwide.

David’s background in “High Tech” includes Western Digital and the US Army where he held a Secret Level Clearance working with electronic devices used by soldiers and special forces such as infrared thermal imagers, night vision, GLID laser system and chemical & biological detection devices. He also regularly attends the Consumer Electronics Show / CES where he meets with the leading innovators, and possible fitness industry disruptors, in the areas of Sensors & Wearable Technology, Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality, Athletic Performance, Artificial Intelligence and Sleep Technology.

David is a member of the Fitness Industry Technology Council and an ongoing speaker on “Futurecasting The Gym of 2020 & 2025” at leading industry conferences such as Club Industry, Athletic Business SHOW and AFS SUCCEED. He is also an IDEA EXPERT with articles such as “Artificial Intelligence and the Fitness Industry: A Primer” and a go-to contributing expert to recent articles including Club Industry’s: “Forward Five Years: How the Fitness and Wellness Industry Will Change”, “Technology’s Role In The Future of the Fitness Industry” and “The Smart Gym Is Here”.
