2020 is about leadership -- personal leadership. We have all been affected by daily disruptions, and we are being tested as leaders, no matter our roles or our industry. Some of us have gone into hyper panic mode, some have become frozen by paralysis analysis and others are blazing a new path forward.
In March 2020, Liz Bohannon, founder and CEO of socially conscious global fashion brand Sseko Designs, was told by her financial advisor that she had a 90 percent chance of losing her 10-year-strong business. That gut-punch led her and her team back to the Magical Land of Beginners, reconnecting them with their individual and company purpose. Together, they concepted, designed, and launched an entirely new product line—Together Coffee—taking Sseko from record low sales and revenue in March to over 100 percent of their sales goals by May. And their fall product launch is the biggest in Sseko history.
In this year of a global pandemic that has eviscerated more businesses than we want to count, Bohannon led her team and company to new heights that they never would have achieved if they were doing business as usual.
In her keynote, she will share how you can use her three strategies to do the same for your fitness business:
- Know Your Customer Deeply - Bohannon understands her customers at a granular level. By going back through the day to day experience of her customer, she knew that even though they were no longer shopping for a summer getaway, what they still wanted was a moment of joy each morning. And so, Together Coffee was born.
- Be A Doer Not A Dreamer – Bohannon quickly got back into the magical land of beginners, the place where start-ups create their foundation, their drive, their purpose. In just four short weeks, she got the new line packaged and on the market. Within three months, it represented a quarter of their revenue.
- Connect Your Sales Team with Their Purpose - Bohannon did not start rallying her team in March; she started her rally years ago when she created Sseko. It is a deep purpose to provide educational and economic opportunities for high-potential women in East Africa. When COVID hit and her sales team started feeling awkward about selling luxury items when people were losing their jobs, it didn’t take much for Bohannon to remind them of why they do what they do.
